Veterans of Foreign wars announces this years youth scholarship contests

Jarrod McReynolds - 7/14/2020

Are you a student? Are you looking for scholarship opportunities? The Veterans of Foreign Wars has you covered, and the Department of Minnesota Veterans of Foreign Wars, along with your local VFW posts, wants to make that dream come true.

Each year the Veterans of Foreign Wars holds the Voice of Democracy (9-12 grade) and Patriot Pen (6-8 grade) scholarship contests. The Voice of Democracy contest will award more than $1.9 million in educational scholarships with the National winner receiving a $30,000 scholarship from National, along with awards from the local, district, and state levels. The Patriot pen contest offers more than $900,000 in state and national awards with that National winner will win $5,000 and an all-expense-paid trip to Washington D.C.

It's never to early to get started! The following links have all the information you need to start.

Remember to submit all entries through a local VFW no later than October. 31st, 2020.

If you are a teacher, this is an excellent program for all your students to get involved with, and your local VFW will be happy to assist you. We look forward to hearing and reading all of the entries from the wonderful youth of the State of Minnesota this year as we do every year!!
